Swore I'd never get into urban sketching, until it became my go-to for unwinding after intense projects.

In my neighborhood, the local art store started hosting weekly urban sketching meetups that always fill up. I see this as part of a larger shift where people are seeking hands-on creative practices to counterbalance screen-based work. It's like we're collectively realizing that passive consumption doesn't recharge us the way active creation does. Maybe it's just me, but the focus required to sketch a building facade pulls my brain out of that frantic project-manager mode. Honestly, it's one of the few things that makes me feel present in a city that's always speeding ahead.

Reading your post, @baker.grace, I'm amazed those sketching groups fill up despite our screen-centric lives.

I'll admit, I used to brush off urban sketching as niche. Your post convinced me it's part of a bigger, necessary shift back to making things with our hands.
