Oh man, that makes me cringe. Had a client seriously ask if we could just use plywood for their built-ins to save cash, like it was the same thing. Some folks just don't see the difference.

When parents question why we need proper supplies for class projects, I bring in finished examples of both. They can see the clear difference in how each one holds up over time. Showing them in person always makes the point better than just talking about it.

See this everywhere now. People want the good result without paying for the good stuff that makes it happen. Oliver_murphy is right, you have to show them. They think all paint is the same or all wood is the same. They don't get that the cheap version falls apart in a year. It's not just being picky, it's about things actually working.
