Homeowner asked if I could 'just screw it back in' and I almost walked off the job

Was doing a kitchen reno last month in Portland and the client pointed at a load bearing beam I was sistering and said that. I had to stop and explain why a single screw next to the plumbing stack wasn't gonna cut it. Has anyone else had to give a 10 minute physics lesson just to keep a job on track?

Tbh my dad once tried to glue a cracked foundation wall with super glue and thought it was fine.
