Unpopular opinion: I cut stair stringers wrong for 3 years until a guy in Phoenix pointed it out
I always marked my rise and run from the top edge of the board instead of the bottom, so every stringer sat about 3/8 in high and I just shimmed the treads to hide it. A retired framer watching me on a job in Phoenix asked why I was shimming so much and showed me his square in about 10 seconds. Anyone else have a habit they defended for way too long before someone called it out?
