Just realized I've been using the wrong seaming tape for years

A customer in Spokane pointed out a lifted seam after 6 months and asked if I used the regular stuff instead of the heat-activated kind. Anyone else have a go-to brand for high-traffic areas that actually holds?

Honestly, that regular tape gets a bad rap. I've had installations with the basic stuff last for years, even in hallways. Sometimes a lifted seam is more about the prep work or the subfloor than the tape itself. I wouldn't rush to switch everything over.

Read a flooring forum thread last week where installers were tearing into this exact issue. One guy swore the heat-activated tape is the only thing that works for commercial spaces or busy homes. Said the regular stuff can't handle the constant flexing. Makes sense if you think about it. The glue needs that extra kick from the heat to really lock down. Might be worth testing a roll on your next job to see the difference.
