Watched a crew wreck a seam on a stair job last Tuesday

I was at a supply house in Phoenix picking up tackstrip when I saw these guys loading out for a stair install. They were using a knee kicker on the last step and didnt even stagger the seams, total hack move on a curved landing. It reminded me to always map out the seam layout before cutting anything, especially on stairs where the treads catch light from every angle. Anyone else run into crews that skip the layout and pay for it later?
