Buddy at the library told me to read Lolita before it got pulled

Last year my friend Dave who works at the county library handed me a beat up copy of Lolita and said read this now because they were getting complaints and it might get moved to the restricted section. I put it off for months thinking it was just some old creepy book. Then last month the school board in my town actually voted to pull it from the high school curriculum after a parent meeting. I finally read it last week and honestly I get why people are uncomfortable but the writing is incredible. Dave was right that I needed to see it before the conversation got all twisted by the controversy. Has anyone else had a librarian or teacher tip you off about something before it got banned?

Grabbed a copy of 1984 from the same librarian a week before the school board started screaming about it, lol. Librarians are basically the cool underground resistance we don't deserve.

Damn right. Librarians always know what's worth reading.
