Finally tracked down a copy of 'The Tin Drum' after hearing it was banned in Germany

I've been looking for a specific 1979 edition for about two years, and I just found one at a small shop in Toronto. It matters because the book was actually seized and burned in some places when it first came out, which is wild to think about now. Has anyone else had to hunt for a censored book from a specific time period?

My buddy spent three years trying to find a first printing of "Last Exit to Brooklyn" from before that big obscenity trial in the UK. He finally got a copy from a bookseller in Brighton who had it tucked away in a back room. The whole hunt became this weird history lesson for him. He said holding that specific edition felt totally different than just reading the text online.

That hunt for the physical history is the whole point.
