Saw a blank plaque at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, the sign about the saguaro was there last spring

Was walking the Sonoran Desert loop in Phoenix back in March with my nephew. There's a plaque about how saguaros only grow about an inch a year, but the whole middle section was sanded off. You can still see the ghost of where the words were. Asked a volunteer and she just said the wording was "under review." Anyone got a before pic of that sign, or know why a cactus fact would need a rewrite?
