PSA: A mod on r/gardening removed my post for saying the word "kill" and I just stared at the screen for 5 solid minutes
Last Tuesday I posted a question about how to kill aphids on my indoor basil because a whole batch got wiped out in 3 days. The auto mod flagged it for violent language and took it down before a single person could answer. I sat there in my kitchen in Boise holding my phone and just laughed. So I rewrote the whole thing saying "get rid of" instead of "kill" and it went live with 42 replies. Now I keep a little list on my phone of words that get me flagged so I don't waste a post. It still bugs me that I have to write like I'm talking to a nervous HR person. Has anyone else built up a whole backup vocabulary just to post about bugs or weeds?
