Warning: wasted $150 on a fancy mandoline that dulled in 3 weeks

Bought a high-end mandoline from a kitchen supply store downtown after my old one finally broke. Used it maybe 8 times over 3 weeks for slicing potatoes and carrots, and now the blade is already dull as butter knife. Called the company and they said it's normal for home use, but I paid a lot for what they called a pro-grade tool. Has anyone found a mandoline brand that actually keeps its edge for more than a month?

Ugh, same thing happened to me with a brand I was so excited about. Spent almost $200 on one that was supposed to be this heavy duty commercial slicer and after maybe 10 uses it was like trying to cut a tomato with a spoon. I was so mad I actually threw it in the trash out of pure frustration. The company basically told me the same line about normal wear and tear which is total nonsense. I've had way better luck with a cheap plastic one from the grocery store of all places, it's been going strong for like a year now. So yeah, don't trust the price tag at all.

Got an old-school OXO one that's held up for years.
