Serious question, do you sweep from bottom up or top down?
I just read this old union manual from 1983 that says top down is the only safe method, but literally every guy I know at the shop sweeps bottom up. I found the manual at a garage sale last weekend and it got me wondering, which way do you guys actually do it and why?

Back when I was in a shop, we did top down just because it kept the dust from settling on stuff you already cleaned. It's slower at first but saves you from having to redo sections later. Stick with the manual method, it actually makes sense once you try it a few times.

Top down cleaning is the only way to go once you get used to it. The dust settles exactly where you expect it to, so you're not fighting your own mess. Saves a ton of time in the long run, even if it feels awkward at first.
