Shoutout to the old timers who used to climb without a harness

I was reading a trade history book from the library and it said in 1950, over 40% of sweeps had a major fall. Anyone know an old sweep with stories like that?

Saw a documentary once that said those old machines didn't have the safety stuff we have now. Just a belt and some gears spinning out in the open. Makes you realize how tough that generation was, working with that every day. Can't even imagine the noise and the dust.
