I compared WeChat Pay and Alipay for a month and one is clearly better

I ran both apps side by side for 30 days during my trip to Chengdu. WeChat Pay handled everything from street food to train tickets faster and with fewer hiccups than Alipay. Has anyone else found one of them to be more reliable in smaller cities?

Funny how smaller cities really test which app has its act together. WeChat Pay seems to win out in those places because it's baked into a messaging app people already use every day for everything else. Kind of makes you wonder if packing more features into one platform is the real winning strategy in the long run.

Lol yeah that's a good point. Honestly I'm still trying to figure out Venmo half the time and I live in a big city. My grandma sent me $20 once and it took me like 20 minutes to figure out how to accept it. Meanwhile my cousin in a smaller town just uses WeChat for everything from paying rent to ordering dumplings. Kinda makes me feel like the person who shows up to a potluck with just chips when everyone else brought full casseroles lol. But yeah having everything in one app is definitely the move if you ask me. Less apps to forget about and get confused by.
