I finally looked up how much CO2 a single Google search uses and it messed with my head
Saw a stat from a 2009 Google blog post saying one search puts out about 0.2 grams of CO2, which sounded tiny until I did the math on my 40 searches a day. Then I found newer estimates saying AI queries can use way more power than a plain search, so now I feel weird about every dumb question I type in. How do you all think about the carbon cost of stuff you do online every day?
