Unpopular opinion: Air drying my clothes outside made me notice something about my energy bill

So I finally got a cheap clothesline and stopped using the dryer for a whole month. My power bill dropped a noticeable amount (like, enough for a couple of pizzas, which is cool). It made me realize how much hidden energy use adds up from just one appliance. Now I'm looking at other stuff I can unplug when I'm not using it.

But is it really worth the hassle? I mean, hanging clothes takes forever (and what about rainy days?). My dryer is just so much faster.

Sure, dryers are faster, but that's the whole thing now, isn't it? We've gotten so used to rushing everything that we don't even wait for clothes to dry on a line. It's like if it takes more than five minutes, we think it's broken. I hang mine out sometimes and my neighbor acts like I'm churning butter by hand. The rain thing is a pain, but I've got a foldable rack for inside, so it's not the end of the world.

Speed isn't everything. Clothes last way longer when you line dry them, so you save money in the long run. That's worth a little extra time to me.
