Why does nobody talk about how hot coolant lines make parts move?

Last week I ran a job on our Haas VF-2 and the tenth part was off by 0.003 in X. I checked everything, tools, tram, backlash, all good. Turned out the coolant return line was resting against the side of the table and the heat was expanding the fixture over the first hour. I moved the line off the table, re-ran from cold start, and all ten parts held within 0.0005. Has anyone else fought thermal drift from something this stupid and simple?

Man, I've chased ghosts like that for hours and it was just a damn hose.
