Question about cold brew: tried grinding coarser with my cheap blade grinder and it actually worked

I was getting this muddy bitter cold brew for months after 6 tries using a fine grind, so last week I just pulsed my blade grinder for shorter bursts to get bigger chunks and the difference was night and day, has anyone else found a cheap grinder trick that fixed their brew?

Pulse it for about 2 seconds at a time, then shake the grinder between bursts to redistribute the beans. @miller.avery is right that you just eyeball it but what helped me was dumping the grounds on a paper plate and picking out any powder before brewing. Did you sift out the fines or just let them ride in the batch?

Just wing it till it looks like gravel and hope for the best honestly.

How long are you pulsing it to get those bigger chunks without turning it into dust?
