I used to think colleges should never cancel a speaker, but one shouting match at a town hall in Austin changed my mind.
A guy with a bullhorn stood outside and screamed racial slurs at a group of students for 45 minutes, and the president of the university just said 'free speech' while nobody called the cops, and that made me realize there's a line between ideas and just harassing people.

Yeah, totally. I saw a guy with a sign calling people traitors outside a city council meeting once, and the cops just stood there saying "free speech" while he was screaming at a family with little kids. There's a huge difference between a controversial idea and just harassing people.

Cannot believe the cops just stood there while he was screaming at little kids. That's not free speech, that's straight up intimidation and they should have stepped in. Harassing a family with young children crosses a line into something else entirely.
