I always figured campus free speech fights were overblown, but when our Young Americans for Liberty chapter tried to book a lecture hall at Ohio State for a November speaker, the school denied it twice and gave no reason. We ended up holding the talk in a dorm lounge with 14 people, and honestly the smaller room made the Q&A way better. Has anyone else dealt with a campus that quietly blocks the room reservation instead of publicly banning the speaker?
Man, that stinks that they jerked you around like that. Twice with no reason given is the part that gets me, because at least a public ban would let you push back and make your case. The quiet denial just leaves you with nothing to appeal and nobody to point at. Good on you for not canceling the whole thing though, and it sounds like those 14 people got more out of it than a half empty lecture hall ever would have given them.
