My petition to keep a speaker on campus got 850 signatures in two days
Our student government tried to cancel a professor from a different school who was supposed to talk about climate policy. They said his past funding from oil companies made him biased. I started a counter-petition because I think hearing from people you disagree with is the whole point of college. I was shocked when we hit 850 names so fast, mostly from other students who felt the same way. When did 'free speech' on campus become only for people we already agree with?

My local library canceled a book club last month because one novel had a character some people didn't like. It feels like that same fear of different ideas is everywhere now, not just schools. Getting 850 signatures that fast proves a lot of us are just tired of it.
