That time a student called me a bigot for inviting a conservative speaker
Last semester I helped bring a former ACLU lawyer to our campus forum. One student cornered me after and said I was normalizing hate speech. She quoted a single line from his book out of context. Has anyone else been called out by someone who clearly didn't read the full material?

That zoning thing really got me, used to be quick to judge but your buddy's story made me rethink.

Got a buddy who invited a local small business owner to talk about zoning laws at a town hall event. A girl in the front row stood up and yelled that he was promoting gentrification because the guy mentioned fixing up old buildings. She literally only heard that one sentence and walked out. My friend had slides showing the guy's nonprofit work with low income housing but she didn't stick around to see them.
