Told a student group in Akron free speech means defending speakers you hate, and their pushback made me actually read the invite contracts
I used to just assume any speaker getting shouted down was a free speech crisis, until a kid asked me who paid the fee and who set the rules for the room. Now I check the invite letter and the venue policy before I post anything, and honestly half these fights look different once you see them. Anyone else changed how they talk about campus speaker bans after someone pushed back on them?
