Am I the only one who didn't know how few people actually buy comics every month
I was poking around on Comichron last week and saw that a book selling 40,000 copies is basically a top 50 title now. Back in the 90s that same number wouldn't even crack the top 100 for some publishers. It just made me realize how small the actual buying crowd is compared to how loud we all are online. Does that change how you think about which books get cancelled?
Waited way too long to look this up because I was scared of the answer and wow, 40k being top 50 is wild to me. I remember reading that during the speculator boom some books hit a million copies and now 100k is a monster hit. It makes total sense why books get axed so fast though, there just aren't enough of us actually buying. Guess it really is a small room that just sounds huge online.
