I keep seeing people say the 1990s X-Men cartoon is the best adaptation and it drives me nuts

Don't get me wrong, I loved it as a kid, but it's not the definitive version. The animation is stiff and the stories were heavily censored for Saturday mornings, cutting out a lot of what made the Claremont comics so great. For a truly faithful adaptation, the 1992 X-Men arcade game from Konami has a better feel for the team's dynamic and raw power. Am I the only one who thinks we give that cartoon too much credit?

Okay but have you actually tried rewatching it as an adult? The love is pure nostalgia. The animation is so choppy, and half the lines are just characters yelling each other's names. You're right about the censorship too. They turned the Rogue and Gambit stuff into this weird, toothless flirting and completely gutted the Dark Phoenix story. It was great for its time, but calling it the best feels like we're all just remembering our Saturday morning cereal.
