Realized I was gatekeeping my own collection for a decade

A new fan at the local shop asked to see my old X-Men books, and I gave my usual spiel about handling them. He just said 'cool' and walked off. It hit me that my rules were keeping the hobby to myself. Anyone else have a moment that made you open up your boxes more?

Gatekeeping just kills the fun for everyone.

Man, that's so true. It's like we build these little walls around the things we love, whether it's comics or records or even just a favorite TV show. We get so caught up in protecting them that we forget sharing is the whole point. I see it everywhere now, people treating their hobbies like a private club. That moment you had, where you saw it push someone away, that's the real wake up call. Makes you want to just hand people the book and say "here, check this out.

I used to be so strict, but that kind of moment really changed my mind.
