Spent $300 on a CGC graded comic and I'm not sure it was smart
I saw a graded copy of a key issue I've wanted for years at a con in Atlanta. It was slabbed at a 9.4, which seemed great. I paid the $300 thinking it was a solid investment for my collection. But now it just sits in a box because I can't actually read the story inside the plastic case. Has anyone else bought a graded book and then felt kind of let down by it?

Spend three hundred bucks on a comic you can't even read? That's wild to me. The whole point is to enjoy the story, not just own a plastic brick. I'd feel let down too.

Remember that time I bought a vinyl record just for the cover art? Never even opened it, just stuck it on the wall. Sometimes the thing you own is the whole point, even if it's useless. Makes about as much sense as a sealed comic book, honestly.

Totally get that! I bought a signed book once and felt weird even opening it, like jaken23 with his record. Kinda ruins the magic somehow.
