Why does nobody talk about the sheer TIME it takes to properly organize a comic collection?

I spent 18 hours over a weekend just trying to sort my 500+ single issues into a coherent reading order for a single character's 90s run, and I'm still not done.

500+ single issues" is the part that kills me. I once tried to sort my nephew's Pokemon cards by type and set number, and after three hours we just threw them all in a box. Some things are not meant to be in perfect order.

Eighteen hours just for one character's 90s run sounds about right. I feel that pain. It's like what casey_fox68 said, some collections just fight you on being perfectly sorted. You have to check dates, crossovers, and artist changes, and then your eyes just glaze over.

My collection is a monument to good intentions and bad follow-through. I have a whole longbox labeled "to sort" from 2019. It's basically a time capsule now.
