Serious question, my umbilical snagged on a rebar cage 60 feet down in Galveston and I had to cut loose
I was working a bridge pier inspection in Galveston last Tuesday when my umbilical wrapped around a rebar cage at 60 feet and after 3 tugs got no answer from the tender I popped my bailout and swam free, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has been in that spot and how you handled it after the surface found out.
Cut loose at 60 is no joke, but you did the right thing. No answer on three tugs means you're on your own down there. Surface is gonna grill you either way, so stick to your story and the dive log. Your mileage may vary but that bailout was the only call you had.
