Had a pour go sideways in Toledo last Tuesday because of a bad load
The truck showed up over an hour late and the mix was already starting to set up in the drum. We had to rush the placement on a 4000 sq ft slab and the finish was a nightmare, full of cold joints. The crew had to work double time with magnesium floats just to get it closed up. Anyone else dealt with a batch plant sending out concrete that was way too old?

Yeah that "topo map" finish johnson.caleb mentioned is way too real lol. We had a load show up almost stiff once and the only thing that saved us was having a bucket of water reducer on site. The foreman basically begged the plant to send a new batch and we used the old stuff just for the deeper parts of the footing. Still had to grind down a bunch of high spots later, total waste of a day.

Our Toledo plant sent a load out like that last month. We ended up with a slab that looked like a topo map.

Switched to a slower pour and let the vibrator run longer in each spot. That extra time let the air bubbles work their way out before the concrete set. Got us a much smoother finish on the next batch.
