Just read that over 80% of the world's internet users live under laws that let governments demand data from tech companies

I saw this in a report from a group called Freedom House last week. It means most of us are one legal request away from having our private chats and emails handed over, even if they're 'encrypted' on the app. That totally changes what 'private' means. If the company has the key, it's not really your secret. It made me think we need tools where only the people talking hold the keys, not some big company. Has anyone else switched to a truly end-to-end app because of this?

Watching the protest at my own school changed my view on speaker bans

I was at the University of Michigan last fall when a speaker got shouted down by a crowd. I always thought that was just students being loud. But seeing it happen, I heard a friend yell 'let him talk' and get shoved. It wasn't about ideas anymore. Now I think colleges need better rules for protests, not just canceling events. Has your school handled a shout-down without banning the speaker?

Saw a speaker get rushed off stage at my school in Ohio

A guest got shouted down by a group of about 30 students before he could even start his talk. The campus police had to escort him out, and the whole event was canceled. Has anyone else had a speaker event shut down like that?

I was at a rally at my university in Ohio last fall, arguing against letting a certain political commentator speak. This quiet guy next to me, who I thought was on my side, turned and said, 'If we only listen to people we agree with, how do we know we're right?' He wasn't yelling, just stating it plainly. It happened right by the library steps, and that simple question stuck with me for months. My game group fell apart over a rules argument about Gloomhaven

It happened two weeks ago, right after we started the third scenario. The fight was about using a lost card to negate damage, which the rulebook says is allowed. One player said it broke the game and refused to play. We spent 45 minutes going in circles, and the whole night was ruined. I think being a stickler for the exact rules is more important than a 'fun' house rule that changes balance. Has anyone else had a long-running group break up over something this small?

My shop's appointment book was a total mess until I tried a $2.99 wall calendar

For months, my two groomers and I were double-booking dogs and missing calls because our digital system kept glitching. Out of pure frustration, I grabbed a big paper calendar from the office supply store and taped it to the wall. Now we all write appointments in pen, and our no-show rate in Denver dropped by half in three weeks. Has anyone else gone back to paper after a tech fail?
