We were pouring a 40 by 60 slab on a 94 degree day and this guy with 22 years in kept yelling that the mix was too stiff and to add water at the truck. I dumped 2 gallons in and within 20 minutes the edges were stiffening up on us and we had to scramble with a second crew just to keep up. Ended up with a cold joint on the north side and the GC made us grind and patch it. Anybody else had an old timer hand you bad advice like that on a hot pour?
Adding water on a hot day is the oldest trick in the book and it never works out, you just trade a stiff mix for one that sets too fast. That foreman should know better after 22 years, sounds like he learned nothing the whole time.
