That 'verified' account on Twitter turned out to be a bot farming engagement
I noticed something weird last week on Twitter. This account with a blue check kept replying to my posts about local construction codes with links to some random crypto site. I checked their history and every single post was just retweeting viral stuff with zero original content. Turned out they had 15k followers but no real interactions except from other bots. I reported it but nothing happened yet. Has anyone else run into fake verified accounts that seem to target specific communities like this?

and thats exactly the problem right there. the verification system used to mean something, now its just a paid subscription badge. i've seen these bots pop up in niche hobby forums too, like they target specific communities to seem legit. the blue check makes people trust them automatically, so when they drop a link or ask for info, people actually fall for it. twitter isnt doing anything about it because theyre making money off the subscriptions. honestly, the whole platform feels like its run by bots now, real people are just background noise.

Takes a weird turn when you realize @ryan_clark40, these bots are probably just testing engagement patterns for some larger scam later on.

Wait, paid bots are targeting niche forums now? That's actually terrifying. I saw one the other day in a vintage guitar group acting like they knew everything about 60s Fenders. Asked for wiring help and everything. Blue check made people actually answer. Probably farming data on who owns expensive gear. Makes sense for a bigger scam later.
