Got burned on a handshake bid in Tulsa, and the written one would have saved me $2,300
I gave a guy my quote for a bathroom remodel off a handshake in Tulsa last month, and when he changed his mind on the tile layout he just said we never agreed on the price, so I ate $2,300 in material and labor. I started making every client sign a simple one page scope sheet before I buy anything, and the difference is night and day because now nobody can play dumb about what's included. Any of you ever lose money on a verbal deal, and how do you bring up paperwork without scaring off the small jobs?
