My invoice template was a mess until one client asked 'what does this even mean?'

I used to just list line items like 'labor' and 'materials' with no detail. Last month a homeowner in Phoenix called me out after seeing my $4,200 total, said she couldn't tell if she was paying for plumbing or a new roof. I spent 2 hours rewriting the template with breakout costs per task and photos of the work done. She paid the next day and even sent me two more referrals. Has anyone else had a client basically force them to get better at paperwork?
