Update: My new laser level died 20 minutes into a job near Phoenix

I bought a PLS 360 laser level two weeks ago specifically for laying out a commercial drop ceiling in a strip mall outside Phoenix. I figured a green laser would be easier to see under those bright lights, but the thing stopped working after about 20 minutes on the tripod. The batteries were fine, I checked them with a meter, but the unit just went dark and wouldn't turn back on. I called the supplier and they said it happens sometimes with the green ones and offered a replacement. But now I'm sitting here wondering if I should just switch back to a red laser since they seem more reliable in my experience. Has anyone else had a green laser fail on them like that right out of the box?

Man that's a bummer. I've had green lasers crap out on me before too, seems like they're more finicky than the red ones for sure.

Can't believe they let you buy something that expensive with that kind of defect rate. How many did you go through before you gave up on them?
