I finally see why we shouldn't push keratin treatments on everyone
Overheard a stylist in Dallas explain how the formaldehyde levels in most smoothing products can mess with people's lungs long-term, and now I actually check with clients about breathing issues before I even bring up the service - has anyone else started screening for that after seeing how it plays out?

I've asked about asthma before booking a smoothing service ever since I saw a client having trouble breathing halfway through.

Wait, halfway through? Like they were in the middle of getting smoothed and just couldn't breathe? That's terrifying. I never even thought about that being a risk with those services. I figured the worst thing that could happen was a bad reaction to the product, not someone actually struggling to breathe mid-service. That must have been really scary to watch.
