My color client count hit 40 in one month at the Charlotte salon and it scared me
We're a 6 chair shop on Central Ave and I did 40 color services in 30 days, which is about 12 more than my normal load, and by the last week my back was done and I caught myself mixing a 7N into a bleach bowl without even thinking. I started rushing the consults, skipping a strand test on two new clients, and one of them came back with bands I had to fix for free. How do you all set a hard cap on your books when the front desk keeps squeezing people in?
Does the front desk even know what a strand test is, or are they just booking bodies to fill the chairs? Curious who actually owns your book in that shop, you or the person at the desk taking the calls.
Who actually owns your book is the real question and most people never ask it. Like if the front desk books someone for a color without checking if they even want color, do you get to say no or does the shop push it on you? And when a client calls to rebook, do they ask for you by name or just take whatever slot is open that day? If the desk controls the schedule and the reminders and the rebooking calls, they own that client, not you. So what happens if you ever leave, do those clients follow you or stay with the shop?
