Overheard two stylists arguing about baldness treatments in the break room

One said selling scalp serums to every client over 40 is just honest business, the other called it preying on insecurity. I've been doing hair for 12 years in Austin and I still can't decide if pushing products we half-believe in makes us salespeople or sham artists. Where do you draw that line?

God, YES! I feel this in my bones. Last month I had this client, sweet lady, 55, gorgeous silver hair, and my coworker straight up told her she needed our $80 scalp serum or her hair would "thin out faster than her grandma's." The woman looked terrified. I wanted to crawl under the chair. But then my boss pulled me aside and said, "Hey, we gotta hit numbers, you know?" So I just nodded and kept doing foils. It's a weird spot where the product might help some people, but not everyone over 40, and we're not dermatologists. Feels like we're just guessing with a smile. I honestly lose sleep over this sometimes.
