Just realized how much wind affects load charts at 200 feet

Was reading through the manual for our Liebherr LTM 1050 and found out wind speed above 20 mph cuts capacity by nearly 30% on certain picks. Never paid that much attention before, but after a gusty day last week I totally get it now. Has anyone else had a close call underestimating wind?

Honestly, that wind thing messing with load charts really gets me thinking. It's like how people don't realize a little breeze can totally ruin a backyard BBQ if you're trying to keep a grill temp steady. I see that same kind of underestimating in a lot of everyday stuff, like how a gentle rain can make your car tires lose grip way more than you'd expect. We just don't notice these small factors adding up until they bite us, and then it's like "oh, right, that was in the manual all along.

Yeah, I get what you're saying about small stuff adding up. But actually, the grill temp thing isn't the best example. Wind can help a grill get hotter if you've got a charcoal one, since it forces more air through the coals. It's more like a breeze can mess with your oven if you're trying to bake cookies, where the temp swings around. Still, I feel you on the underestimating thing. It's wild how a tiny variable can flip the whole script.
