PSA: Just read the OSHA crane accident stats from 2022
I was looking up some regs online and saw the official report. There were 42 crane-related deaths that year. I knew it was dangerous, but seeing that number really hit me. It's a solid reminder to never rush a lift, even when the foreman is pushing. How do you guys stay sharp on the safety basics when the schedule gets tight?

I mean the thing nobody talks about is how much of this is just fatigue, not even the big safety checks. You can check your sling all day, but if you've been on shift for 12 hours and your brain is fried, you're going to miss that frayed section or misread the load chart. I've been there where I'm rushing just to get the job done and go home, and that's when the dumb mistakes happen. Maybe it's just me but I think the schedule pressure is the real killer here, not the equipment. We focus on the gear but ignore the human factor wearing down over a long week.

What's your go-to safety check before a lift?

My buddy skipped checking his sling once and it snapped mid-lift, @kevin_schmidt97. Now I always look for cuts or frays first.
