inMy book club imploded after we couldn't agree on a single book for 3 months straight
Taking what @tara700 said a step further - maybe rotate who gets to pick the book each month. That way everyone gets a turn but nobody has to argue about it all at once. Give each person full control for their month, no pushback allowed. It works for my buddy's group, they just take turns and deal with whatever gets picked even if it's not their thing. Another option is to set some ground rules first like max page count or a list of approved genres before anyone even brings up titles. That way the drama happens upfront and not when feelings are already invested in a specific book.

inCan we talk about the connector that failed on my bench today?
Did the pin just give up and walk away? I swear those pre-made harnesses are wired with hopes and prayers instead of solder. I had a D-sub pin on a Garmin GNC 255 that literally fell out when I sneezed near it, and it had only been in service for six months. You'd think spending a little extra on a quality crimp tool would be cheaper than pulling your hair out over these duds.

inFound out my color depositing conditioner has been fading my highlights cheaply
Yeah that tracks with basically everything marketing tells us now. It's like how "moisturizing" shampoo strips your hair more than regular stuff because of the sulfates they add to make it feel fancy.

inWhy I think everyone's wrong about the Forbidden City being overrated
Funny enough, the Forbidden City actually messes with your sense of time better than any modern museum. Standing in the outer courtyard, you realize the emperors designed it to make visitors feel tiny and overwhelmed on purpose. That's a kind of deliberate psychological experience you just don't get from looking at a photo or watching a documentary.

inTIL the "Keep Calm and Carry On" meme got banned on Facebook for being too political in 2019
Back when my local brewery tried running a simple "Drink Local Beer" ad with a vintage 1940s poster design, Facebook flagged it as political content. We spent three weeks going back and forth with their support, and they kept asking for documentation proving it wasn't a campaign ad. Finally just gave up and started running the same image through Instagram where it went through fine. Their automated systems are way too aggressive with anything that even looks retro or slogan-ish, especially near election time.
