That morning fog over the Hudson taught me a hard lesson
I was running a 200-ton crawler up in Jersey City last fall. Had a pick planned for 6:30 AM. Fog rolled in thick off the river. Couldn't see the landing zone from my cab. My spotter kept yelling but I couldn't hear him right. I damn near set a steel beam on a guy's porta-potty. After that I bought a set of two-way radios with boom mics for me and the ground crew. Cost me $180 but worth every penny. Anyone else deal with fog issues on a river job?

Radios are a no-brainer on the river.
