I finally finished a short story using the 'write drunk, edit sober' method

Tried the 'outline everything first' approach on my last 3 stories and kept getting stuck around page 5. This time I just wrote the whole thing in one messy draft at 2 AM and it actually flows better than anything I've planned out. Has anyone else found that overplanning kills their creativity?
