Just realized my writing prompt ideas were stuck after a weird coffee shop scene

I was sitting at a coffee shop in Denver last Thursday trying to brainstorm for a prompt about a time traveler, but I kept drawing blanks. Then this guy at the next table started arguing with his laptop about a spreadsheet, literally shouting at it like it owed him money. It was so absurd that I immediately wrote down a prompt about a person who realizes their devices can talk back but only to complain about their life choices. I got three more prompt ideas just from watching people for 45 minutes. Has anyone else had a random public moment totally save their creative block?

That laptop guy probably had more drama going on than any time traveler plot could ever dream up. Real life is just weirder than fiction sometimes, that's the trick to breaking through a block.

I just started writing down weird stuff that happened to me that week and it turned into my best scene.
