Rant: a beta reader told me to cut my favorite chapter, they were right

I spent 4 months working on a chapter that set up a major twist in my sci-fi novel, and my beta reader in Austin said it was just info dumping disguised as action. I pushed back for a week, then finally split the twist reveal into two smaller scenes and moved the setup to dialogue between two minor characters. Has anyone else had to kill a scene they were proud of to make the story actually work?
