Am I the only one who thought spray foam insulation was a total scam until my electric bill hit $410 in January?
Two years ago a builder in Boise quoted me $9,800 extra to foam the attic and rim joists on our 2,400 sq ft build and I laughed him right out of the room. Last winter we hit $410 for one month of heat with the cheap fiberglass batts, so I caved and had a different crew come in. Now I'm seeing bills around $180 and the upstairs bedroom finally stays warm instead of freezing. So here's my debate: is spray foam actually worth the crazy upcharge, or did I just get lucky with a mild winter? Would love to hear from folks who skipped it and regret it, or who paid for it and think it was a waste.
