My framer swore by 24 inch centers on rafters

He said 16 inch was overkill and saved me $400 on lumber for my garage roof last summer. Three months later I've got a visible sag in the middle where snow sat. Anybody else run into this with wider spacing?

Twenty four inches on rafters, that's just asking for trouble with snow load.

What kind of pitch are they working with, @emerycarr? A low slope with 24 inch spacing would definitely make me nervous around here.

Yeah @emerycarr got me rethinking this. I used to wing it but not anymore.
