My bank's 2FA texts kept failing in the Northgate parking lot, switched to an authenticator app and it just worked

Tried logging into my account 4 times outside a grocery store and never got a single code, so I set up an authenticator app that night and it has not failed once in 5 months. Anyone else ditch SMS codes for an app, or do you keep both around just in case?
