Pro tip: saw a hotel lobby wifi sign in Reno that made me laugh and then worry
Stayed at a place off Virginia Street last month and the front desk had a little card that said the wifi password was "password1234" for every room. The clerk shrugged and said guests forget anything harder, which is fair, but that same network also had the room booking system on it. I just used my phone hotspot the whole trip. Anyone else run into a spot where the staff knows the setup is bad but nobody will pay to fix it?
That clerk basically told you the whole truth in one shrug. Thing is, once one guest pokes around on that network they've got the booking system too, guest names, card info, all of it. Fixing it costs less than one bad review, but nobody wants to be the one to bring it up to the owner.
